Noah’s Journey
“Noah has enjoyed all of his classes,” says Lynn, “but now, he especially is interested in accounting. After taking some classes and having an awesome teacher, his career path went from teaching to accounting.”
Enjoying school has been part of Noah’s time in the school district from grade school, his mother says. “I have lived in Beloit most of my life and Noah has lived here all of his. He attended Teddy Bear Preschool, Converse, McNeel and now BMHS.
“Throughout all of Noah’s school years, all teachers and staff have been helpful and courteous. He has never had a teacher who didn’t go above and beyond.”
A strong interest in reading at home was always been encouraged at school, Lynn explained. “Noah has always been a very good student. I read to him a lot when he was younger and it just carried through. His teachers always encouraged him. I’ve always told Noah that if you can read, you can learn how to do anything.”
More recently, at McNeel and then Beloit Memorial, Noah has had not only excellent academic experiences but also extracurricular experiences.
And Noah’s Path
“Noah has been involved in the technical side of theater since middle school,” Lynn says. There is a great camaraderie between the students and staff. A great bunch of people.
“Noah has also traveled to Europe, England and New York — school trips that he just loved. What a great experience!!
“The Europe trip was through the art club with the art teacher Elizabeth Carpenter New. The NY trip was through the business department and that was chaperoned by Mrs. Richardson and her sister. These trips showed him there is much more out there and that people are different, yet the same. I am grateful that he has been able to experience things I haven’t,” Lynn says, adding that Noah loves traveling to California on his own to visit his grandmother Blanch.
It is Mrs. Richardson as well as the material in accounting courses at BMHS that inspired Noah to choose an accounting career path, Lynn says, noting “She makes it interesting for him.”
As evidence of that, Lynn says, “Noah has had his future planned out for quite a while. He plans on attending UW-Rock County for the first two years for his general studies and then finishing up at UW-Whitewater with his masters in accounting.”
As she reflects, Lynn says, “Beloit Schools have a lot to offer. There are many options and you get out of it what you put into it. There is shop, theater, sports, business, math, English, etc. Everyone has the same opportunities, but it is up to the student and parents to take advantage of what is offered.”
As for advice now that she is almost the parent of a graduate, Lynn says, “Make sure children know there are expectations. Guide them and listen to them. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and know their friends. I also try to say ‘yes’ whenever possible.”
Both Lynn and Noah would encourage anyone considering Beloit schools to say a resounding ‘yes.’
