Now in it’s seventh year

This will be the seventh year the theatre program has put on a Haunted Hayride to fundraise. The money is used for theatre trips and festivals. This year, the money will be used for the Wisconsin High School Theatre Festival in November, which exposes students to workshops and live performances.
This year’s Hayride has a crazy surgeon theme. Those who attend will experience a story involving a germ outbreak orchestrated by madmen. Roxanne Joos, a senior at BMHS, directed the Hayride this year, as well as last year. She explained that the beginning of the Hayride starts on “what seems like a run-of-the-mill hayride, when it takes a turn and a creepy doctor has to take control. It’s super fun while also being super spooky!”
One of the best parts about the Haunted Hayride is that it is directed, organized, produced, and written by students. Josh Wick, a senior at BMHS, thinks this production is a great opportunity for as many as fifty students to produce something interesting and fun without having to audition.
The hayride also helps students get familiar with the actors students might work with if they decide to audition for one of the school’s shows. Senior Emma Corum said, “It’s just a really great bonding experience for everyone. We kind of all come together to keep warm, stay hydrated, share food, and distribute toilet paper to do business in the woods.” It is also a good leadership opportunity for students since it is entirely run by students. Wick enjoys the Haunted Hayride because the student-run aspect is a college-level opportunity that most people would not see until they graduate from high school. Overall, the BMHS Haunted Hayride has a lot to offer, whether it be for the students involved or the public attendees.
