A Dad’s Perspective
Scott Murphy says Aiden “…looks back on the previous four years quite fondly.” And as he reflects, you understand that he would like to see any families considering the district to make that choice.
“We moved here in 2001,” Scott recalls. “Aidan began school at St. John’s, until the 8th grade, when he attended Aldrich.”
And then it was on to Beloit Memorial, no looking back and anticipating an excellent four years of academics, activities and preparation for the future.
“BMHS has been a very positive experience for Aidan,” says Scott. “He has been able to take many different courses that he has had an interest in. There have been many helpful teachers and administrators for him…
There have been several teachers who have been especially helpful to Aiden Scott says, noting, “Mr. Troxell, Ms. Prowse, Mr. Schenck, Mr. Sweger, Mr. DeKok, Mr. Wagner.”
Further, Scott adds, “He has been able to take AP classes and enroll in the Porter Scholar program to better prepare for college.
Learning Life Skills
“He is a member of the National Honor Society, and theater has been a big part of his High School career.”
In addition to what they consider unequalled academic and related opportunities, Scott says, “Aidan has been involved with hockey — as one of the captains, soccer and tennis.
“Aidan has had a well rounded high school career. He has learned leadership skills from several mentors, sports, etc. He has been able to learn life skills such as auto repair and cabinetry.”
All of the great things considered at BMHS, as graduation approaches, Scott emphasizes, “I would encourage any student to try and take advantage of the many different opportunities that BMHS offers. From the many different choices of classes, theater, sports, choir, there are so many… venues to explore.”
In other words, discover Beloit Memorial to discover the path to your future, Scott advises.
