Summer School Beloit 2016
Summer School will take place mornings, Monday-Friday, from June 20 to July 29, 2016 (except for July 4). Free breakfast and lunch is included in the program, and transportation is available for eligible families.
Elementary Information
Students entering grades 4K through 3 this fall are eligible to participate in our elementary summer program. Each child will receive core classes of reading and math, using high-interest books and hands-on activities, in addition to added enrichment classes. Enrichment classes such as cooking, drama, and robotics will be offered based on grade level.
Robinson Elementary School will serve as the summer school location for students residing on the east side of Beloit; Hackett Elementary School will serve west side students. The schedule is
- Optional breakfast, 7:15-7:30 am
- Classes, 7:30-10:45 am
- Lunch and Recess, 11:20-12:25 pm
Intermediate Information
The District’s intermediate summer school program is open to students entering grades 4-8 this fall. Students must choose at least one core class which range from standard English and math classes to Forensics and Hands-On Science. They will then have their choice of enrichment classes such as sports skills, artwork, learning Spanish, chess and others.
Fruzen Intermediate School will serve as the summer school location for students residing on the east side of Beloit; Cunningham Intermediate School will serve west side students. The schedule is as follows.
- Optional breakfast, 8:00-8:15 am
- Classes, 8:20-11:15 am
- Gr. 4-6 Lunch, 11:20-11:40 am
- Gr. 4-6 Class, 11:45am-1:10 pm
- Gr. 7-8 Class, 11:20-12:45pm
- Gr. 7-8 Lunch, 12:50-1:10 pm
High School Information
Students entering grades 9-12 this fall are eligible to register for the Beloit Memorial High School summer school program. There are three categories of classes: Credit Recovery for needed credits, Initial Credit to get a jump start on the next year, and enrichment for non-credit.
There are language and math courses, advanced placement prep, strength conditioning and exploring technology just to name a few of the courses offered this summer. Attendance is required for credit.
The daily schedule is as follows:
- Optional breakfast, 7:30-8:00 am
- Classes, 8:00 am – Noon
- Lunch, 12:05-12:45 pm
Registration: Due by May 15
Program information and registration forms are available under the Announcements section of beloitschools.net, and at any School District of Beloit building.
Students who are not enrolled in the District system yet such as incoming 4K students, private school students, or students in other Wisconsin school districts must stop by the Enrollment Office at the Kolak Education Center (1633 Keeler Avenue, Beloit) to fill out enrollment information.
Free breakfast and lunch are also offered to any child not in summer school up through age 18 as part of the citywide Summer Food Service Program. More information on this program will be coming soon and also posted on the website: summerfoodbeloit.org.
