BEL is a pre-college scholarship program that UW-Madison is currently recruiting for called the Business Emerging Leaders (BEL) Program. BEL is a 3-summer commitment program (three weeks during summer before junior year, four weeks during summer before senior year, and five weeks during summer before freshman year in college), where students who successfully complete all 3 summers and are accepted into the University of Wisconsin- Madison, will receive a 4 year tuition-paid scholarship, accompanied by direct admission into the Wisconsin School of Business at UW-Madison.
The goal of the BEL program is to increase diversity at the Wisconsin School of Business. Students are selected based on their demonstrated academic success, leadership skills, commitment to diversity, and potential to excel in business at the university.
Mary Kaye Richardson, Business Education Instructor at Memorial, informed students of the opportunity at the university and prepared them for the process. She notes that the program only accepts 30 students and is pleased to see BMHS students earn 3 of those spots.
