Now retired from the post of Criminal Justice Department Chair at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, Lomax had broken many barriers during his career such as becoming the first African-American to join the Beloit Police Department in 1963 and the first African-American instructor at the UW-Platteville campus in 1969.
Some of the many awards Lomax earned include George W. Scott Award for Outstanding Athlete (Trinidad College), Dennis Pratt Award, Excellence in Professional Development Award and Distinguished BSU Alumni Award all from UW-Platteville.

About the BMHS Hall of Fame
The Beloit Memorial High School Hall of Fame was established for the purpose of identifying and recognizing graduates of Beloit Memorial High School who have made significant contributions to their professions and their communities. They serve as role models of achievement for our current student body. The first recognition was made in 1994.
A plaque of each recipient is permanently placed in the school’s Hallway of Fame.
