Exploring Accounting Careers

Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public AccountantsThe $1,349 award from the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The Educational Foundation Accounting Careers Awareness grant will allow students to tour and meet with accountants from Milwaukee’s Palermo Pizza Factory and the Milwaukee Art Museum. It will also pay for new classroom accounting software, Richardson said.

“We are greatly encouraged by Wisconsin teachers’ interest in advancing high school accounting curriculum, networking with CPAs and professors, learning about accounting careers and higher education, and encouraging young people to study accounting and become CPAs,” said Renee Johnson, president of the WICPA Educational Foundation.

Accounting is one of dozens of career readiness classes offered to Beloit Memorial students through REACH Advanced Career Education. The School District of Beloit’s Career and Technical Education programs allows students to explore career options, participate in work-based learning and youth apprenticeships and receive college credits.
