Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award Assembly
Winners were recognized for demonstrating positive leadership qualities, contributing to the betterment of the school community, excelling at teamwork and exemplifying the goals and ideas that honor the life of Dr. King.
School District of Beloit’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. essay winner, Kaylyn Vences started the celebration with some spoken word about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Hackett’s Empowerment Monday group read a modified version of “Hey Black Child” by Useni Eugene Perkins. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Excellence Awards were then presented to students. The program concluded with sing-alongs led by Tim Krause, Hackett Elementary Music Teacher.
Students nominations were kept a surprise. Families were invited to attend the awards celebration.
